I ordered an egg white omelette with schrooms and it came out perfect. Huge portion and the side of grits were excellent. My friend said his turkey club was very good and didnt skimp on ingredients. Service was very good and waitress was very friendly. Will be a return customer.

This was my second time at City Diner, and this meal was a great as the last. I ordered the biscuits and gravy, which is wonderfully portioned and prepared. The order comes with two biscuits and plenty of gravy that one can eat by itself. I also ordered a side of homefries, which was much less impressive in size, but well cooked and satisfying. As is my litmus test for many restaurants, the wait staff was attentive and left my buddies and me un-bothered when we decided to sit and sip coffee after our meal. Indeed, leaving us to casually take our time almost plays into the ambiance that is created with the decor, which is a testament to the devotion that management has to the establishment.

It was not horrible. It was not great either. Had to track down the hostess to get seated. I had a $14 Chef Salad which was a little better than one I could get at Wendys' although my husband had a cheeseburger that was good. Waitress was pleasant but did not come back to our table to check on us until she was ready to give us the check. Had to track down other servers for soda refills and extra napkins. With all of the great reviews I have read I expected more. City Diner is nothing special. Not in a hurry to return.

We were visiting a friend who suggested we visit the diner for lunch while he worked on a day we were there. We did just that and I have to say this place is amazing. Love the decor and service was great. I had a burger with bacon and fries and my husband had their Reuben. Both meals were great. Our friend had made it a point for us to have dessert so we ordered a slice of their coconut cake to share....WOW!!!! I am a pastry chef and someone of a critic when it comes to baked goods but this cake was to die for!!!!! On the day we headed back home we made time to stop by and pick up a slice of the same cake and their apple pie to go....neither one made it home with us ;0).

The Diner has a very friendly staff and warm environment. The standard menu is typical diner fare, but the restaurant also has an extensive menu of entrees and apps you would not expect. I tried the Amish chicken and my wife the meatloaf. The servings were big enough for two meals and the taste was delicious. My only regret is that the dishes were salty. Restaurants need to recognize that many people have reduced their salt intake for better health and even a small amount of salt tastes potent.

A City Diner Since early 2005, when we moved to West Palm Beach, there has been one choice, for us, for a dinner food: Howley's. We had an opportunity to dine out last night and decided we wanted to expand our base of dining destinations. Suzanne suggested we try City Dinner, another locally owned restaurant. It is located on Dixie Highway, about as far north of Southern as Howley's is south. The place used to be a Pizza Hut, but except for the roofline, and the signature window layout, there isn't much left of the pizza joint. Inside, the walls are decorated with oddities that remind me of a Cracker Barrel or a T.G.I.Fridays, but the staff and general feel is of authentic diner. Suzanne and I both had visualized an artsy restaurant pretending to be a diner, ala Howley's, but quickly we realized this place was a real diner trying to be artsy. For me, it wasn't working, but we decided to let the food tell the tale. One of Suzanne's little complaints about Howley's was that their Diet Coke never seems to have enough fizz. In a victory for City Diner, they got the soda fountain right. I had the coffee, and I cannot tell the number of diners that have served me bad coffee over the years. This coffee was pretty good. It wasn't of the level typical of a Mexican restaurant, but it was "Better than Starbucks," which, of course besides being the name of our popular group on Shelfari, is my minimum standard of drinkability. They also had a rather exciting appetizer on their menu Spinach and Artichoke dip. We love this dish when it is done right. Red Lobster does it pretty well, but we have had it other places that were real disappointments, but hey, we were experimenting! It was excellent! Suzanne had the BLT, which is often what she gets at Howley's, she said it was about the same. This is where it gets a little weird. They gave us two menu's, a laminated lunch menu, and a paper dinner menu. I decided to order the Blackened Talapia on the lunch menu, 9.95 with two sides, sounded pretty good. Except our nice waitress explained that as it was dinner, I could only get the dinner portion, for 13.99. I tried to argue, but as Suzanne pointed out, it was only a few dollars and we were already there, "let it go." So I did. After the fabulous appetizer, I am thinking, "Okay, this is gonna be worth it!" When the food comes, there is one piece of fish, with a baked potato and mashed potatoes, as Suzanne observed, I like my carbs It looks worse, in presentation, than the most careless hospital or school lunchroom. I am nervous, the fish is actually really good, especially if you like a really hot seasoned fish. The mashed potatoes were a little lumpy, making me believe they were truly homemade. They tasted pretty good. About 25 years ago, I found out that you could make a baked potato in the microwave. They weren't as good, but it took 3-4 minutes, instead of heating up an oven and the kitchen for an hour or more. When I wanted really good potatoes, I still poked a couple of holes in them, wrapped them in foil and baked them in the conventional oven. When I met Suzanne, I learned to appreciate a PERFECT baked potato. The secret is you poke, at the, most 2 holes, and bake it without any covering in the oven. If you use a medium potato, bake it at the right temp, I think about 350, in about an hour, you have a potato which is crumpled parchment on the outside, and on the inside, if you add about a stick of butter, is a thing of beauty and magic. The baked potato I was served was without foil and slightly damp on the outside. It was cooked on the inside, but not to the magic perfection I have become used to. I can't say for sure, but I believe the potato was microwaved.... On the whole, we agreed we did not regret it, but wouldn't be back anytime soon.

When we were in the area I feel like we hit the jackpot with every place we found and this one in particular had to have been one of the best. It has such a great laid back vibe with the beautiful patio area and the old diner decor. It reminded me of the Dream Cruise back in Michigan and was everything you could wish for in a diner. The food was above and beyond typical diner fare and it was so hard choosing just one thing off of their menu with all of the fabulous choices. The service was friendly and fast and the food delicious. The absolute perfect place for brunch!

The first thing noticed was the TV Repair neon. Can I have it in exchange for this great review. It was all uphill from there. It was a great start to a Sunday, from the nice service to the great food. We took home a slice of apple pie and a slice of blueberry pie. I couldn't resist them on the counter. I'll let you know how they are on my next review, but I'm sure they'll taste great.

I came in on a Sunday morning around 11 and got a spot at the counter right away. The service was very friendly (although definitely swamped) and attentive. I ordered the lobster hash which may go down as the best breakfast I've had in years. my girlfriend had corned beef hash which was also crazy good. We both got milkshakes to go and they disappeared quickly. The manager made it a point to come talk to us and learn our names which was incredibly cool. This will be a frequent repeat.

I had this place on my list of places to try after I have appointments at the Cleveland Clinic. I went here around 11:45am and I was able to beat the rush. The place fills up pretty fast because it is a relatively small space. Parking is a premiuim but I was able to park on a nearby street. Since I was solo I decided to help them out and I sat at the counter. I believe it seats 4 or 5. My waitress was excellent as she saw me reading the menu intently and asked if this was my first visit and I confirmed. She said she had just served the bbq chicken flatbread lunch special and it looked amazing. I was going to get a Reuben but she suggested I get the chicken because the Reuben is always on the menu and the chicken flatbread is not. I was glad I listened. The balsalmic touch to the chicken on the flatbread was top notch. A gentleman at the counter got the shrimp taco special of the day and it looked wonderful and he said it was indeed. I'll go back for sure. The prices were around $9 w/o drink. It seems like they have a chef not a short order cook and you don't mind paying a wee bit more for fresh ingredients and flavorful food.

Great, nostalgic decor. Friendly staff. Food came quickly and was like home cooking. Bit light on the veges, but lots of meat. No specific kids menu, but they can make a couple of dishes in kid portions.

We were searching for a lunch spot before we went to the Norton Museum the other day when we drove right past City Diner. My wife quickly read the Yelp reviews and we decided to give it a try. It was a glorious day, so when they asked if we minded sitting outside, we quickly agreed. Well, the table outside was the best part of the meal. My wife ordered a burger and I decided to try the Jumbo fried shrimp. Even though there wasn't much of a crowd, we waited approx. 45 mins. for our lunch. When it finally arrived, my wife's burger was burnt to a crisp. I wanted to return it, but we didn't see a server again until the check came! Her side was a bag of chips, unopened, lying on her plate! Was it too much effort to open them and pour them onto the plate? My shrimp were so funny I had to take a picture. There were FOUR shrimp on top of some soggy fries all at a wonderful deal of $15.95! Seriously?? We paid and left.....this is one "hole in the wall" that won't EVER see us again!

Have been three times now to City Diner and have been happy all three times. The first time I had a fabulous special, a gyro sandwich that was better than gyros at many middle eastern places. Their burgers are great and I loved the California rueben. I highly recommend the lemon cake for dessert, but they also have other scrumptious-looking cakes and pies on display. The chef is obviously very talented (one review says he was French-trained), but he makes simple food a cut above the run-of-the-mill diner This is a low-key place right on Dixie, a small place (outdoor seating available) with kitchy decor, really nice people working there.

Was not impressed at all. Everything tasted weird, Shake was watery and warm, our bill was $45 for 1 sandwich, 1 shake, 1 tiny cup of soup & 1 soda.

Love, love, love, love, love it here! Food is good. Service is fast and friendly. Ambiance fantastic. Everything a kitschy diner should be! Come early cause parking runs out fast, but they're also fast at moving the crowd. Worth waiting around for a seat.

Great comfort breakfast food! Good service In a homely laid back setting. Got to try the corn beef hash. Awesome. Another good tip is the fish and grits!! Really like the bowel of fresh fruit to finish off a great meal!

This little gem is consistently fantastic. Been here for breakfast and lunch and it is always superb. The service is always efficient and the ladies are a delight. If you get a sandwich don't miss out on the pickle! Delicious! So glad to have them in my neighborhood.

Every time I visit this place the service is good, and the food is great.. They also have a section for pets which is why I make it a point to visit every so often. The Cheese grits are the best!

  • Mark O.

In general they have good food. You can bring your dog and sit outside if you want. They have a delicious Reuben for sure. They also make everything in house. The only issue I have with City Diner is they are expensive for what it is...diner food. Most sandwiches don't come with fries, just plain ole Lays chips. Want fries with that $12 Reuben? Sure add $3. So if you want to go for lunch...with a drink your paying $20 roughly, which is a lot for diner food. They also don't sit whole parties...so if you're meeting someone they will make you wait...really annoying. Just know what you're in for when you decide to stop in.

I enjoyed my visit on a Saturday afternoon for early dinner. I had the meatloaf dinner. Very tasty meatloaf and gravy, mashed potatoes were good but there should have been more of them. I sat at the counter for that true diner experience, lots of 50's memorabilia, all the ladies were friendly and upbeat. I would definitely go again. I gave 4 instead of 5 stars because of small portion of potatoes, and fairly high price at $14.

  • Patricia H.

It's expensive for what it is. Cracker Barrel has better! We experienced a dirty table and lipstick on the water glass. It's not the best diner in the area.

This place had a lot of antiques which were cool to look at. The food was overpriced for what we got. The burger was salted excessively and the fries seemed to be warmed up as opposed to freshly cut and fried which is what I was told. The fried clams were good and came with coleslaw and fries but $18.95? Too much for what I had. The chili had no flavor of chili. It was like having baked beans and hamburg without the tangy taste. I got no flavor of chili powder. Maybe this is just the way it is made here. So if you like that kind of thing, you will like it. Overall, the service was good. We were going to get some pie to go but based on the rest of the food and the price, we opted out.

  • Woosdy N.

I found the food mediocre, the service rude and rushed, and the prices high. Corned beef hashish had no onions or potatoes, and was mushy in texture. Received a thin layer of hash browns.

  • Mikey K.

The food was always OK. My wife was just treated horribly before we even sat down. They were making her wait for table and not telling her that. She wanted to order for the both of us because we are were in a rush. They were rude. Lied to her. And have no sense of customer service. The food is OK and before today I enjoyed the place. I won't be back to any establishment that treats people disrespectfully

Love the corn beef I think I'm addicted to this side dish. If it has a nice combo of eggs and hash browns, coffee is always fresh and delicious. Good spot for a beautiful easter Morning, Old time diner with homy decor

Salad and water was $14. I did add some chicken -- not a complete chicken breast but a few slices The restaurant is a total fifties diner setting. Very cute. Wait staff was friendly enough. I asked for an all spinach salad (no romaine) and they happily accommodated. It was delicious. Saw other people eating more "diner" style food and it looked pretty good. I may have to return.

I've been coming in here for breakfast for years and the grits are the best in the south east of the United States, hands down. Everywhere I go they just do not compare. If you like grits this is the best place to get them. I go for lunch every once in awhile but it can be pricey. My favorite is the caesar salad with the grilled shrimp on top and when I say shrimp I mean they are JUMBO shrimp! The fact that they make their own Caesar dressing is amazing, it's just perfect with the hint of anchovies. I really love this place.

  • Brian R.

If it was just for the food, I'd give this place a solid three starts. The kitschy decor and the staff though earn them back one more. The food is nothing particularly remarkable. It's solid diner food, but with Howleys, which has major league spectacular breakfasts down the street less than a couple of miles one way and Dontee's a few blocks up Belvedere, it makes City Diner a tougher sell. The corned beef hash seemed like it had been prepared well in advance. The pancakes were solid and not bad but not enough to be a draw. People find diners for a lot of reasons other than the food, and this one is likely to fit more in that category.

  • Nikki B.

The grits were AWESOME!! I'm a south Louisiana girl and grew up on grits. Usually, people make them soupy with no taste. This placed nailed it. The French toast was really good too. Our server was extremely nice and accommodating. If u have your pet, bring em' and sit on the patio.

Ran into this place by accident! Not far from the West Palm Beach Airport, it has a friendly and kitschy interior with a great breakfast special ($4.99 for eggs/hash browns/toast!). I'll be back to check out other items on their fun menu.

Love City Diner ! Once you walk in it's like you're transported back in time into a 70's diner. I order the short cakes with strawberry and wipe cream and two eggs with French toast and bacon. My Order came out soon after. [ thank god for not having to wait long ] The short cakes were soft and the strawberry were fresh just like the whip cream. Also they were big pancake not just some tiny little things, they were huge. My eggs I order them sunny side up and it was spot on. The yolk was exactly how I like it. The bacon was a little bit to crunchy for me. That's the only did I would say I kinda didn't like. I don't like my bacon to crispy, but hey that's just me. The French toast was amazing. You can taste it was made fresh and not something diners pull out of a freezer and put to heat. My waiter was really nice to my 3 year old son. She let him play with a toy car while we eat. I love this place. Really nice and layback.

Great Great lunch and dinner. My wife loves the breakfast here. The specials are always different and tasty. The wait staff is friendly and down to earth. The owner is a classic trained French chef. It is convenient and there is always a seat available.

I don't know what happened but everything was off, waitress that sat us had an attitude and our waitress gave us the check without asking if we wanted something else, which we did. Time to find somewhere else to go, just because you're doing well should not mean to slack off, things change!!!

Once we walked in, we loved the atmosphere right away. The breakfast was great! Visited City Diner two mornings in a row while vacationing in West Palm Beach, FL. Both times I got their egg, cheese and ham sandwich on a croissant which was wonderful. There is indoor and outdoor seating, we sat outside in the back of the diner and loved it. Great service, prices and food...why wouldn't you want to visit!

It's a cute place and I was excited to grab a tuna platter for lunch. But a bite turned up a piece of paper. I showed the waitress and "it's only a piece of paper" was the response. GROSS

I wish there was an outpost in LA so I could have their almond crusted French toast at my leisure. That was some good s***!!! Very friendly service and it was fun to see all the paraphernalia around the diner. Bf had their corned beef hash eggs Benedict special and gave it a thumbs up.

City Diner opened for business in July 2006. Jo Larkie and her son, Richard Kline, co-own the diner. Richard is the chef and cooks six days a week except for Monday. He is there from 7:30 AM to 9 PM (at times). Richard creates all the recipes. They offer great quality food, give people a blast from the past, and remind them of their youth. Young kids will reminisce of how 5 and 10 cent stores gave free fun candy. Jo's granddaughter, Tasah, painted the wall mural which has Marilyn Monroe, Chuck Berry, Elvis Presley, Buddy Holly, Audrey Hepburn, and Humphrey Bogart. They have a lot of antique toys, a Texaco gas pump from the 1940's, telephone booth, and a traffic light, Coca-Cola cooler. There is an outdoor patio, nice comfy booths, Wurlitzer jukebox, license plate tags, a snare drum, accordion, and an old time cash register. Signature dishes are pot pie, lobster cakes, homemade meatloaf, salmon teriyaki, homemade apple pie, Sundays does lobster hash (eggs, avocados), grits, BLT, 100% angus burger, four cheese macaroni cheese, homemade tuna burger (grinds his own tuna). The diner changes things and it has a staple menu. The diner is of high quality and variety of food. I just love the cozy, homey atmosphere.

This is the real deal. In the parking lot, the back wall is bright red with with B&W. famous people painted like Buddy Holly, Humphrey Bogart, Marilyn Monroe, and others. There is an old red Chevy, in great shape, parked for more added effect. Inside it's a real diner decor with comfortable cushy seats and a varied menu. The silverware comes wrapped in a huge thick paper napkin... really terrific. Hanging from the ceiling are models of a fire truck a few airplanes, a drum, an accordion, little model cars spread around throughout the diner and license plates from all over the country hanging up on the wall. You really feel like you someplace in the middle of America on a road in the middle of nowhere. Fun! You do not need a paper to read while waiting for your food... Just look around. Due to a traveling schedule, I had breakfast at 7 PM, but it was delicious. The eggs were prepared perfectly. I preferred rice and it came shaped like a pyramid which was a cute little bonus and the service was excellent. Prices are fair, service was quick and very pleasant. If you're in West Palm Beach for breakfast lunch or dinner, you will be very happy stopping here. Oh yes, like any diner, even in the evening, shorts are fine. I'll be back!

Great place great meatloaf sandwich Lao good club sandwich . Cool looking fifties style cafe and good crowd. The staff is friendly but busy . Also , you wait a little but the food is worth it. The prices are a little up there but the originality is worth. It.

Very good food. Friendly service. People in my party ordered the Reuben, fish and chips, and chicken pot pie. I ordered the tuna burger. Very good. I have two reasons for not giving 5 stars. We felt a little rushed, even though the restaurant was not full. I ordered my tuna burger medium rare. The server told me they only do rare or well done. This made no sense to me. Is that what they say to people ordering a beef burger? I love tuna rare but have noticed when tuna burgers are rare that they fall apart. It was good, but a little more caramelization would have been much better.

This was our third visit, and it's time for a review. We've now had breakfast, lunch, and dinner. All were exceptional. Breakfast: corned beef hash was tender and flavorful. House made! Lunch: chicken cheese steak. Wow. My, this was a unique find, but not as great as my husband's fried green tomato, bacon, lettuce sandwich. Yummy. Dinner: there were six of us, and everyone had an exceptional meal. Fried green tomato bruschetta! I think I won though. The chicken and waffles were exceptional...these are really different. Not just a lump of chicken on a waffle-no. These also have bacon with melted cheese. Oh my goodness. You'll have dreams about that meal. The prices are a little high, but the quality offsets that. If it lived closer we would be regulars. Highly recommended.

We stopped in two weeks ago with friends. This was our second visit, and keep in mind that this is almost an hour drive for us, but we had a Groupon to attend "ReptiCon" (our little one loves turtles and snakes!) so we were in the neighborhood and went for lunch. I agree with Spencer from Brooklyn, I too don't care much for the kitsch-crazy interior designing some places do, but City is pretty charming. Enough chit-chat, let's discuss the food. I agree with some of the other Yelpers that there are a few items on the pricey side that I will likely never order (shrimp), but the lunch/dinner prices on a whole are affordable. Our first visit I had a Philly cheesesteak and it was GOOD; last visit, I had a Gorgonzola Bacon burger with onions. THIS WAS ONE OF THE TOP 10 BURGERS I HAVE HAD IN MY LIFE. OK, maybe I was super hungry, but it was perfect. Cooked to a perfect mid-rare, and they did not skimp on cheese (Gorgonzola is about $7 a pound for crumbles, and I swear they must have had 1/4 lb of it on the burger). My wife had simple tuna on rye for the first visit, and a turkey burger the last visit... both great. Our friends, a turkey & a regular Ruben, both were pleased. Fries were crisp (which is a big hang up of mine; I will tank a place for having soggy fries). The service was attentive and extremely friendly on both visits. I will note that on this last visit we must have come right at the height of their Saturday lunch rush, as we had to wait 20 minutes for an inside booth, and other then my 4 year old reminding me how hungry she was, the wait was worthwhile. In the future, any event that lands us in the West Palm Beach area for the day will always end with lunch at City Diner.

Simply the best brunch or breakfast experience in West Palm Beach. Unfortunately, not up to the same standard for lunch and dinner, But you can't beat their breakfast - and it's cheap and casual.

I can get down with a spot like this. Usually I'm all hoitey-toitey about kitsch, but I found this place pretty charming. And my biscuits and gravy were good, and my grits were good, and they were nice. So yeah. I can get down.

I live in Miami but flew into PBI for the cheaper flight and as an excuse to spend a Sunday up there. Good choice because 1 month later at midnight tonight I am CRAVING their super hot, extra buttery grits. I want some right now! But really, the decor is adorable, all 50s and I loved it. We sat at the bar and ate. Our waitress was VERY friendly. It seemed like there was going to be a wait but we were sat and served pretty quickly. We only had the breakfast and it was good. I am definitely a fan and will return when in the area!

Delicious diner food and a lot of character without being tacky. The outside patio is great when it's a nice day and they are very pooch friendly, which is a huge bonus. Just beware, the patio is in the flight path of all the jets flying in and out of PBI, but as long as you're prepared for it, it's actually kind of cool. Reasons for not giving it a 5 star rating? 1) They get busy so sometimes you feel like you're greeted by the Soup Nazi 2) It's definitely on the pricey side for a diner, 3) Last I checked, they don't take AmEx. Still, well worth a visit.

This has become more and more of a favorite lunch place (plus you can get breakfast for lunch which I'm a fan of.) I often get the tuna burger which comes with a wasabe sauce that is very tasty and spicy. Their french fries are some of the best, crispy and hot. Wait service is friendly and prompt and the prices are reasonable. Recently, they have had a spicy shrimp special, as a sandwich and just as an entree with fries, both good. Last time I was here, a week or so ago I had breakfast for lunch, french toast, 2 eggs, all prepared perfectly and cheap. My only complaint is check out, at some point I'm going to ask because its just not clear as to whether we pay the waitress or check out up front. Some times the waitstaff takes the payment and sometimes they don't which leads to my confusion (and sometimes sitting too long waiting for someone to check us out)

Ordered a roast beef sandwich and a turkey sandwich. The food is fresh, tasty albeit a bit pedestrian. The 1950's decor boasting a working table top TV in a wooden cabinet appeals more to the eye than the menu. Service was more business like than welcoming. Howley's a few blocks south on Dixie Hwy offers a more creative menu and a welcoming staff in a mid-20th Century setting.

Cornbeef hash was awesome! Pretty good for breakfast and everything appears to be homemade... Rather than your usual restaurant depot foods. I would hit it up again when I am back in town

Howleys Diner is by far my favorite buuuut I have to say City Diner out does them with the PATTY MELT & the MAC & CHEESE.....absolutly no comparason w the mac & cheese. City Diner takes the cake w the Mac! I tried to order a tray of it for a Christmas party. The staff told me that they were too busy to order a tray & that the cook simply didnt have time to make it :(

Think of classic diner cooking from the 50's - 60's cooked to perfection and severed by friendly staff. Favorites chicken fried steak, chicken pot pie, shrimp & crab cakes

Pretty cool atmosphere, 50s theme. I had the burger with mushrooms and grilled onions. It was great but messy. Fries are good, not really greasy. I'd go back. I think they have breakfast anytime.

I went here for brunch (okay, breakfast in the early afternoon - no judgment) and was pretty pleased with the place. The decor and atmosphere are classic diner and we had a really friendly waitress. I got one of the breakfast specials - egg, sausage, biscuit and gravy, and home fries. The sausage gravy wasn't my favorite, but everything was cooked perfectly to order. My friend got the eggs benedict and I wished I had gotten that when her plate came out - two perfect little eggs sitting pretty on top of some spinach, tomato, and English muffin. I would definitely go back here, but I would try something new.

Food was great, service was great... It was extremely busy, but we were seated quickly and food was delivered fast and as ordered perfectly. Best breakfast place in the area.

I went with my daughter a few weeks ago and wasn't unhappy, but I didn't feel that it was anything special either. I had an egg salad sandwich, which came with chips. The egg salad didn't really have very much flavor, but the tomato was very ripe and sweet. I ordered my daughter the hot dog and fries. I was disappointed that there was no offerings for a children's menu so I ended up having to pay around $8 for her lunch, and I think my sandwich was about the same. So I think the prices are a bit steep for what it is. The menu is kind of limited. Perhaps I'll give it another try for breakfast.

Easy parking. Mostly easy to find (lettering and color scheme of sign can make for a "missed turn" for non-locals.) BEST - They cook with BUTTER, not oils. The grits and pancakes tasted like grandma's! Area for IMPROVEMENT: Only the staff itself was not a part of the whole decor and ambience. From their modern t-shirt and shorts to their modern "you're 'just' a customer" efficiency and greetings,... it didn't exactly *kill* the experience, it just didn't enhance it. To be fair, the Mom's Diner in Disney's MGM Studios Park is one of my all-time fave theme park eateries. And it's there, from the vintage costumes to the "fussiness" of the 'Mom' waitresses to finish our veggies and elbows-off-the-table that really make that place the whole dining experience. GREAT: The decor. Vintage. From the time you enter the parking lot where the concrete wall is painted with images of Audrey, Marilyn, Buddy, Dean, and Frank, to the children's toys from the fifties hanging on the walls AND CEILING! I ATE a very fluffy omelette with huge chunks of feta cheese and firm, large chunks of avocado. When I asked for a pancake instead of wheat bread is wasn't a problem. (There was a small up charge.) Bothy companion and I had the grits and agreed that they were AMAZING... and we are fussy about our grits. They were creamy, seasoned. Definitely NOT 'low-cal', which was a nice change of pace as we were celebrating a birthday, not just having a 'power lunch'. Our order for two, with one small lovely orange juice added to my order was $24.65. My companion had a two-egg and bacon traditional type of meal. We arrived to find a slew of SWAT POLICE OFFICERS there for their morning coffees and breakfast sandwiches. As folks who enjoy supporting local establishments and Small Businesses, this was a WELCOME sign! Parking was free and abundance at 9:00am on a Monday. The low flying planes overhead made it clear the airport was very near. #PBI It is on the public transportation bus line, Palm Tran.

I met my two sisters for lunch, all three of us had very good meals. My first time there, I was very impressed. The girls both go there often as I really like the place. I ordered a chicken Caesar salad, because the tunafish has onions in it and I have an allergy to onions.

One of my favorite places in all of West Palm. I tried it for the first time a few years ago after my parents started going there regularly. I have since been several times since then and I just really have never had a bad experience. The interior of City Diner is definitely that "diner" feel. There's a bar/counter, linoleum tables and tons of random stuff all over the walls. There are even a bunch of pies in glass cases to take a slice home if you want! The food here is always top-notch. I've had lots of items on their menu -- pasta, burgers, chicken, shrimp. All have been very good. The service is really friendly and always makes you feel like a welcome customer, and everything usually comes out pretty fast. The "who's who" of Palm Beach can often be seen dining here, which I think signifies to me that this place is pretty darn good. Definitely a must-do when in West Palm.

This place is the real deal. "City Diner" but not really in the city (WPB). The best corned beef hash I've ever had. Really. The food is really mouthwatering. Real "down home" Florida joint. Seems like it's run really well from kitchen to table. First time. Now I want to try everything on the menu. Only thing I discovered was they don't take American Express.
